In this paper, we propose a framework called MUST to optimize ToD systems via leveraging Multiple User SimulaTors. However, this might result in a sub-optimal ToD system if it is tailored to only one ad hoc user simulator, since human users can behave differently. User simulators are agents designed to imitate human users recent advances have found that Task-oriented Dialogue (ToD) systems optimized toward a user simulator could better satisfy the need of human users. One Cannot Stand for Everyone! Leveraging Multiple User Simulators to train Task-oriented Dialogue Systems We hope that publishing such reports would (a) improve transparency in decision-making, (b) help the people new to the field to understand how the *ACL conferences work, (c) provide useful data for the future chairs and workshop organizers, and also academic work on peer review, and (d) provide useful context for the final program, as a source of information for meta-research on the structure and trajectory of the field of NLP. We present analysis of the factors affecting peer review, identify the most problematic issues that the authors complained about, and provide suggestions for the future chairs. This includes work with the goal of improving review quality, clearer workflow and decision support for the area chairs, as well as our efforts to improve paper-reviewer matching for various kinds of non- mainstream NLP work, and improve the overall incentives for all participants of the peer review process. We present a summary of the efforts to improve conference peer review that were implemented at ACL’23. There are many more like the vase-shaped bolas spider sac and the brown widow’s spiked sphere which resembles the ball on the end of a flail. I have just touched briefly on the diversity of spider egg sacs. Caught in the act! A spider from the Castianeira genus (Ant-mimic spiders) putting the finishing touches on her egg sac. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there! Domed sac of Neoscona crucifera. Since they’re in the heated indoors, I’m guessing they’ll come out sooner. It’s a cold January here in Pittsburgh, most all spiderlings would naturally come out in spring. I can see them moving around when I put a light underneath the container. The spiderlings have hatched, but are still in the sac. As of this writing, I have the large, yellow egg sac of the orb weaver Neoscona crucifera. Wolf spider mom’s tear open the sac for the spiderlings and they quickly climb onto her back. Once the spiderlings hatch, they stay inside the safety of the egg sac for their first molt and then bite their way through the silky mesh. You can see the eggs at the bottom then a negative space and then more silk. This is a cool cross section of the funnel weaver sac ( Agelenopsis pennsylvanica). This spider produced two infertile sacs right before she died in captivity. You can see the eggs darker in the middle. A western lynx spider with its disk-like egg sac. The eggs are unfortunately infertile since I caught the spider while she was immature and have had her in captivity the whole time – no males. Black widow ( Latrodectus mactans) egg sac. I’ve opened these egg sacs just to find the eggs hard and clumped together like a stone. This has happened with my captive immature female spiders who have been isolated from males. Spiders may also lay a bunch off infertile eggs that just never hatch. Even though there are male and female, there have been cases of female spiders giving birth to all female spiders, no males needed (parthenogenesis). Check out The Birds and the Boxing Gloves? for more info on how to tell them apart. Spiders are dioecious which means there are male and female. This means there are at least four more in the house somewhere…Ĭobweb weaver, Euryopis funebris, an ant-eating specialist, and her spiky egg sacs. Spent egg sac of Steatoda triangulosa…from under my microwave stand. Common house spider, Parasteatoda tepidaroirium, with 4 eggs sacs, one of them with spiderlings! Then there’s my roomies, Steatoda triangulosa AKA The Vacuum Evaders which create perfect, cottony spheres. Teardrop-shaped, papery, brown sacs, about the size of a pinky nail, belong to Parasteatoda tepidariorum. These spiders are common in porch corners and garages. Some spider egg sacs that you may already be familiar with are woven by our common house spiders. Meta ovalis with its cotton swab egg sac. I took a bunch of pictures and was later able to identify the spiders as Meta ovalis, the cave orbweaver, using an egg sac as confirmation. Perhaps camel crickets were the main menu item for these spiders. The cave was between some big boulders with camel crickets all over the place as well. While hiking at McConnell’s Mill State Park, I came across “cave spiders” that I never saw before. She will carry the eggs until they hatch and then the spiderlings are on their own. A spitting spider with its eggs loosely wrapped with a few silk strands. This tiny brown paper bag is the egg sac of the ray orbweaver, Theridiosoma gemmosum, a spider that is only 2.7 mm from head to spinnerets. Wolf spider Trochosa terricola with egg sac in exposed “nursery tent”. Spider egg sacs are nearly as diverse as the spiders themselves! Spiders can produce several eggs sacs per season. Some spiders make a silken tent and hole up with the eggs until they hatch. Wolf spiders and fishing spiders carry the egg sac around with them. Egg sacs may be abandoned or protected while the eggs are developing. Some look like fluffy balls, some look like debris, and some are merely held together by a few threads. The female spider produces a mat of silk, the eggs are deposited on the mat, and the whole thing is wrapped up to look like a sac. Magnified photo of spider eggs inside a sac. The featured image above shows the egg sac of Argiope aurantia (AKA banana spider, garden spider, Steelers spider) on the left and a wolf spider ( Rabidosa punctulata) egg sac on the right. Depending on species, they can lay thousands of eggs or just one single egg as is the case with the tiny spiders in the genus Monoblemma (found in tropical Africa and tropical Americas). So, unless Tesla keeps a LOT of inventory, there will likely still be the option to custom build the car for your order. Or you might want the 7-seat option in the Model Y. If there is inventory of your cars, why would you have a backlog? Well, there might be inventory of some models, but not of others, or their might not be inventory in the exterior or interior color you want. Additionally, if Tesla has multiples of the same configuration, it generally doesn’t show that on its website. It shows 175 Model 3 vehicles in the US, but I counted close to a 100 just in California, in addition to the 48 in Florida and nearly 50 in Texas. For example, shows 83 new Model 3s available and one in Florida, but shows 48 Model 3s within 200 miles of my home in Tampa (200 miles from Tampa covers most of Florida’s big cities except the panhandle, which doesn’t seem to have any Tesla inventory anyway). I think Tesla changed the API to make their job more difficult. The inventory trackers don’t seem to be working too well, unfortunately. In the past, the discounts on the demo and inventory vehicles was enough that Tesla would usually sell out in most US markets (there would still be inventory traveling, but pretty much all the inventory that was ready to sell would be sold). That is markedly different from when I was there at the end of the first quarter, when it was a zoo of 40 people or so working with sales advisors to order or pick up a car.Īs my friend Dennis says in the above video (a great channel to subscribe to if you want the latest info on whether it is the best time to buy or for tips on financing), Tesla put many or all of its demos on sale at the end of quarter. I stopped at the local Tesla showroom yesterday and there wasn’t a single person there (until I was leaving and someone showed up for a test drive). This is known as the “wave,” and normalizing the deliveries is known as “ unwinding the wave.” End-Of-Quarter Channel Check, Lots Of Cars Available In The US I expect that the company will continue to smooth out deliveries compared to its previous practice of delivering little in the first part of the quarter and then spending a lot of resources to delivery many cars in the last month of every quarter. My expectations are that Tesla will meet the expectations on both and make about 20,000 more vehicles than it sells. I’m writing this article on July 1st, before Tesla has announced its second quarter production and delivery numbers. What is Tesla’s inventory and backlog now? If it is rising, is that by design, intentional? I look at that and more in this piece.
